Healthy Schools

In April 2011, the Academy was awarded ‘National Healthy Schools’ status. The Academy aims to support the health and well-being of all students and staff through:

  -   The curriculum – teaching about healthy lifestyles and the development of positive relationships

  -   Super learning days / activities – using external specialists to deliver workshops or plays to students about
      particular issues

  -   Ensuring that food provided in the Academy is healthy and meet 'National School Food Standards’

  -   Providing free drinking water for all students, staff and visitors

  -   Listening to and acting upon the views and concerns of students through the Student Council and student
      voice activities

  -   Providing a bright, clean and welcoming environment for students and staff to work in

  -   Ensuring that the Academy is fully inclusive and that a wide range of activities are provided for all students
to develop in confidence and reach their full potential

  -   Providing appropriate support for students and staff

  -   Ensuring that students receive good pastoral care and feel safe when they are in the Academy

  -   Rewarding students for good behaviour, effort and achievement
